All males are sons

  1. I acknowledge that one day I must stand alone without them.

  2. I am a son, a gift of two parents, a father, and mother, I know there are two sides to every story.

  3. I pledge to seek to learn both in fairness to my future.

  4. I seek to create as much opportunity to know each side for myself.

  5. I pledge to find the truth as best I can.

  6. It is with this truth that I can decide for me; without it I cannot.

  7. I understand to dishonor the truth of my father’s existence is to dishonor my existence.

  8. The truth is, it is because of my father that I am here.

  9. I understand I do not have to accept the misdeeds of my parents to accept their existence as their son.

  10. I cannot hold on to their misdeeds without also holding on to my pain.

  11. I honor them as a part of my life though they may or may not be present.

  12. I pledge to fight the failed understanding I may have held about my father and /or mother.

  13. I know by honoring me, I honor being a son from their birth.

  14. I seek to be a good son.

  15. Their offenses are not my own, their youth is theirs and theirs alone.

  16. I pledge to let go of the pain so that I may live.

  17. I am a son and that I must be.

A Father’s Pledge

  1. As sons of our fathers, many of us have suffered the absence of fathers for many reasons, yet the facts and the truth are not the same. It is a fact that many fathers are absent from our homes. The truth is many left our homes and families by dying in battles, some from disputes in the household, some by murder at hands of other men, some by natural transition and many for reasons too numerous to list. We are the sons of our fathers. We sons accept both the causes and effects. We cast no blame we accept we relinquished the responsibility out our generosity and failure to understand what was always there for us the see.

  2. The truth of many lost fathers can be found in crimes of a nation that cared little for our father’s right to life. I am his a SON with unlimited love I shall teach his grandson, my son, to honor his efforts to live. We sons accept both the causes and effects. We cast no blame we accept we relinquished the responsibility out our generosity and failure to understand what was always there for us the see.

  3.  I pledge as a son, a father, and grandfather to aid my son(s) to be competent and men of unyielding character within our families, our communities and with other men no matter their kind to improve the quality of our survival.
